Volunteer Info

Anyone can be a volunteer for the Cancer Outreach Foundation!

Volunteering is a cornerstone in the Cancer Outreach Foundation organization. Without volunteers, we would be forced to reduce our services to others in need. Foundation volunteers are a diverse group, ranging from school children to senior citizens. Elementary school students participate in the “Dove Project”, middle school students sponsor dances, and high school students participate in various fundraisers.

Citizens within our community sponsor a variety of fund-raising events ranging from informal yard sales or car washes to the more formalized Gala of Hope. Businesses in our community have united to sponsor group events such as the Golf Fore Hope Tournament. Volunteering brings the personal satisfaction of seeing first hand the results of your efforts. Few things are as up-lifting and rewarding as knowing that your contributions have made a difference…that you have helped make someone’s life better.

Anyone can volunteer…all that is needed is a passion to share your time and energy to help others.

In general, the Foundation works with cancer patients in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee and there is a need for individuals who can help with the delivery of medicines, food or other basics, as well as provide transportation, counseling, or just spend some time visiting with patients. Beyond this, we are always seeking new ideas…if you have a unique skill or hobby that could help us better serve the community or just a neat idea for fund-raising or assisting patients, please contact us. We would love to hear from you!
