2nd Annual Music for Hope Concert

The Cancer Outreach Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual Music for Hope Concert will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 9th, 2014 at the historic Bristol Train Station in Bristol, Virginia.

Clifton's Ford, Ileeana Johnson, and Jerry Castle And The Arrivals will perform in what promises to be a fun filled night of music while we raise money to support cancer patients living in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee. We provide financial assistance to the patients of the Wellmont Health System and the Mountain States Health Alliance as well as other referring Oncologists in our service area.

You can be sure your attendance will make a difference. The proceeds from this event directly impact deserving cancer patients in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee. As an example, over the past 11 years, your donations to the Foundation have provided gas cards so patients can receive treatments and attend appointments and have provided medication to those who could not afford the cost, but could not afford to go without. We cannot thank you enough for your support without which the Foundation would not exist to serve those in need.

Tickets are $35 per person and include a Low Country Shrimp Boil and an evening of Great Music. A Cash Bar will be available with sodas, water, beer and wine. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Foundation Board Members; Dustin Powers, Judy Smith, Susan Blevins, Roberta Davis, Wrenda Fuller, Cathy Hopkins, DeAnna Jackson, Priscilla Jessee, Sheri Jessee, Tim Jessee, Kelley Mayden, Dr. Sue Prill, Jenny Sexton, Dr. Forrest Swan, Dr. Bernard Tisdale, Michael Warren, and Jeannie Garrett. You may also purchase tickets at the door, but we suggest that you make your purchases in advance. An entire table can be reserved for $500. You will receive six seats and six complimentary drink tickets with the table purchase. You will also be recognized in the event program and newsletter.

If you would like to donate as an event sponsor, we are offering four levels of sponsorship:

Event Sponsorship - $2,500.00
Table for 8, unlimited complimentary drinks, your company name displayed on event signage, recognized in the event program, our website, social media outlets, and our newsletter.

Featuring Clifton's Ford, Ileeana Johnson, and Jerry Castle And The Arrivals...

If you you haven't caught the Clifton's Ford band yet, you certainly will soon. Original tunes, amazing instrumentation, and tight harmonies are just a part of the Clifton's Ford unique blend. They successfully make the crossing into pop, funky folk, indie, blues, and bluegrass (or is it 'blues-grass'?) While their style is definitely their own, Clifton's Ford's music is akin to Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, and Old Crow Medicine Show.

Clifton's Ford came together in Damascus, Virginia during the Spring of 2012. Jordan had just arrived back in town after receiving his Harley-Davidson technology education in Orlando, Florida. Bonnie was touching base after a stint as an arts event coordinator in Phoenix, Arizona and a pass through Bonnaroo. Henry was in Damascus overseeing family property and enjoying time out from the city life of Charlotte, North Carolina. Starting out, they were covering some of their favorite music and musicians. One song that they particularly enjoyed was "Strange Vine" by a group called Delta Spirit. That song brought them their first band name, StrangeVine. When performing that song on the street at Bristol’s Rhythm and Roots reunion they captured the attention and earned praise from the stage by none other than Delta Spirit band members. Now performing mostly their own songs under their new name they continue to grow and glow. To learn more about the band and their music, visit Clifton's Ford's website, www.cliftonsford.com, and Facebook page www.facebook.com/Cliftonsford.

Ileeana Johnson is a talented singer/songwriter/musician from Northern Virginia. Her expressive vocals are supported by acoustic guitar, piano, and the occasional ukulele, exposing her true passion for music. Ileeana offers a blend of many different genres, with a style ranging from contemporary and classic rock to modern folk that will move you inside and out. An acclaimed artist, Ileeana regularly performs at various venues near our Nation’s Capital, as well as past performances in Nashville, Charlotte, and Southwest Virginia. Jerry Castle is an American singer-songwriter from the small Appalachian Mountain town of Abingdon, Virginia. He’s completely crazy and completely sane, funny but tormented. He’s a whole lot a rock n roll wrapped in a whole lot a country. Castle, a 14 year resident of Nashville, TN, has become best known for his country-rock songwriting about heartbreak, hard living, and lessons learned from a colorful life both at home and on the road. He still believes that songwriting should be magical, not contrived. His latest album, South Holston, will be released on August 26, 2014. To listen to selected tracks and view the music video, visit Jerry's website, www.jerrycastle.com, and Facebook page www.facebook.com/JerryCastleMusic.

As a nonprofit organization, the Cancer Outreach Foundation depends upon your support to provide assistance with the financial needs of those in our community who are battling cancer. Every gift is important and every dollar counts in our effort to reach cancer patients in our region who are dealing with the financial burdens of this disease. Your contribution will help someone living in your community that needs help with transportation, cost for treatments, medication expense, and medical supplies. We are so very thankful and appreciative of the generosity shown by individuals and businesses in the community. The Foundation would like to recognize local businesses who have given their time and donations to assist us in realizing our mission to provide financial support to cancer patients in Southwest Virginia and Upper East Tennessee.

Welcome to Michael Warren, the new Executive Director of the Cancer Outreach Foundation!

Please join the Cancer Outreach Foundation in welcoming Michael Warren as our new Executive Director.

Michael has served on the Foundation board since 2012. He is excited to be in his new role as Executive Director and is working hard to help serve Cancer patients in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.

Today is a Good Day!

Since our area of service has expanded to include Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, the number of patients we serve has increased dramatically as has the demand for funds. Every individual and every business or organization approached by the Foundation has been extremely generous, and for that we sincerely thank you. The monies received from friends who make gifts in honor or in memory of a loved one is a significant part of the COF budget as are the gifts and grants from businesses, civic clubs, churches, schools, and other foundations. Remember, you don't have to have a special occasion to make a donation to the Cancer Outreach Foundation. Today is a Good Day!
